Bar Prep and Exam

Kent will be taking the Bar exam on July 30 and 31. Kent has been studying for the exam all summer. The Barbri bar prep course scheduled him to study 10 hours a day, 7 days a week beginning May 19.  Kent doesn't study on Sundays so his schedule has looked something like this: 8am-6pm he studies in Grandma Hansen's basement. Then he comes home for dinner and to spend time with family for a couple of hours. When its bedtime for the boys, sometime around 8:30, he will go back to studying for another 2-3 hours. So it's been busy, but thankfully Kent manages stress like a pro! I think I do all the stressing for him, lol.
The actual test will take twelve hours to complete and is divided into two days.  The first day he will have three hours in the morning to write 6 essays. These essays will be pulled from 16 different topics and he will be graded based on content not length. When Kent took a practice test this week he said each of these essays ended up being about a page and a half in length. But, its the rules of law that he is really being tested on in these questions. So he is working on memorizing as much as he can. After an hour and half lunch break he will have three hours to write two long "fact-based" essays. These essays will lay out the details of a case and Kent will have to read through it and respond. Even though he gets  three hours to write two essays it is a time crunch because of all the reading.
The second day of the test will include two hundred multiple choice questions. They will have three hours in the morning to answer one hundred questions and three hours in the afternoon to answer the last one hundred questions. These questions are long and you are looking for the "best" answer not the "correct" verses incorrect answers. Kent said there are about two questions per page or four front and back. So again it is a time crunch.
We are praying a lot for Kent! The boys pray and ask Heavenly Father to "help Dad on his big test" :0). Kent has a good job lined up to begin on Monday, August 5. We are very hopeful that he will pass the test, but of course a little nervous still. We are grateful to Grandma Hansen for making it possible for Kent to study in a quiet place each day, it has been a big blessing! And we are so grateful to Kent's parents for letting us live with them this summer while he studies. It's no small thing to open your home to a family with three little curious and energetic, but adorable boys :0). We will always be grateful for their love and support!
This Sunday is fast Sunday for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Which gives us the opportunity to not eat or drink anything for a period of 24 hours, and ask our Heavenly Father for special blessings in prayer. We will be fasting and praying for Kent and if any of you, our family and friends, would like to include him in your fast we would be so grateful!

** I'm sorry about the poor grammar throughout this post.  Kent uses the laptop to study so it is a rare moment when I have access to it. And the boys are all awake and asking me questions while I try to type haha :0).
